2016 has been such a freaking blast! I can’t wait to see what 2017 brings, but before I get ahead of myself let’s take a look back at the best of this year. Today I am linking up with Courtney of Eat Pray Run DC. Be sure to check out her post and read everyone’s best of 2016 posts.
Let’s jump right in…
Best Race Experience
This is such a tie for me and I can’t choose just one. I am going to go with the San Fran Half Marathon and the New York City Marathon. Neither experience was about chasing a new PR or hitting a certain goal. They were both about the experience and I can honestly say that I feel changed from both experiences. San Fran still makes me feel all weepy when I think about how magical the Golden Gate Bridge was when I ran over it and the New York Marathon felt like running in the Olympics because I have a difficult time imagining that running a marathon could ever be better than that.
I have had so many great runs this year, but I think I am going to choose my favorite route instead. Every time I run my favorite route I’m reminded on how diverse and eclectic my neighborhood and city are and that is the best!
Best New Piece of Running Gear
My Hoka One One Cliftons are a close second, but by far the best thing I purchased this year was my Garmin Forerunner. Heart rate training is where I thrive and I love this watch so much. So folks get overwhelmed with information, but I love it.
Best Running Advice You’ve Received This Year
I don’t know where exactly I heard this, but it has stuck. Get Comfortable with Being Uncomfortable. To me this was about pushing myself farther and harder than before and it was so rewarding.
Most Inspirational Runner
There are too many to name them all! I am inspired by the everyday runner who gets up, goes to work, takes care of kids and still trains hard. While I love seeing what elites like Kara and Shalane are up to there is so much to be learned from the everyday woman. Some of my favorites to follow are Kelley Roberts @runselfierepeat and Dorothy Beal @mileposts 🙂

Race Experience You Would Repeat in a Heartbeat
Hands down the New York City Marathon! This race was everything and I imagine there will never been another race in my life when I will feel more alive than I did during this race.
Sum Up Your Year in a Couple of Words
I can do impossible things. There are so many things that I did this year that seems impossible, but I did them because I believed that I could.
