Even though I’ve basically been taking it easy since the NYC Marathon due to fatigue, sickness and the general holiday season, I’m finally ready to take a planned break from running. Also, I’m pretty sure I’m justified in taking a hiatus after the Dopey Challenge last weekend 😉
Most people take an off season break during the winter months and I’m ready for mine. I’m excited to sleep in, do different workouts and run for fun for a while before training for the Edinburgh Marathon in May.
It’s no secret that I like running on a schedule and training, but for the rest of the month I plan to run casually and strength train like a fool. It will be weird to focus on something other than weekly mileage and long runs, but that’s part of the fun. It will be a nice break. Not only will I be stronger going into marathon training, but I know I will be so ready to focus on running after weeks of focusing on other things.
