If you are a runner then you know FOMO (fear of missing out) is a real thing. There is nothing worse than seeing or hearing about a race that you missed out on. As much as I talk about the harmful effects of comparing yourself to others, I think social media is a great way to learn about races and places that you normally wouldn’t otherwise find out about.
Well, that was a lot of talk to tell that it happened…I added another race to my already growing calendar. Since the Mr. are already planning a longer adventure vacation to Denver over the Memorial Day holiday I added a local race.
The Mr. and I will be running the Bolder Boulder 10k in Boulder, Colorado on Memorial Day. I have heard nothing but amazing things about this race and have been interested in it for a while now. The race runs through Boulder with views of the mountains and then ends with a Memorial Day tribute and show.
Since we don’t have anything planned for that day I saw absolutely no reason to not do this race while we are in town. The Mr. took a little convincing, but finally agreed. We are doing this for fun!
Running at altitude is no joke, especially when we will be doing a lot of hiking and adventuring on the days leading up to the race. I figure if I can run my first marathon in the mile high city, then we can run 6 ish miles for fun.
I’m excited about the race atmosphere and to be in the mountains. Colorado is also so relaxed when it comes to events like this so I know the experience is going to be incredible.
Have you ever run a local race while on vacation just because you were already there?
