Hi ya’ll! Holy smokes! Where did the time go?! It’s hard to believe that we leave for San Fran this Friday and that it’s nearly August. Earlier in the year I announced my race calendar and I can’t believe the San Francisco Half Marathon is here.
While I do plan to use this as a training run, I do have a couple little goals I would like to achieve.
Run the Downhills. I know a lot of the hills will be challenging and I will more than likely need to walk some of them to be efficient, but I want to run the downhills. I did this when I ran the Knoxville and Vancouver USA halfs and it really worked.
Take all the Pictures. It might sound silly, but I want to take a lot of pictures. I didn’t take any course photos when I ran in Washington last month and I regret it. I am running this race for the experience so I want to stop and take as many pictures as I want.
Mind My Heart Rate. I have seen some serious improvements in my performance and recovery since I started sticking to heart rate training. Sometimes that means I have to walk up hills, slow down when I don’t want to or take a short walk break to bring my heart rate down. Since I’m not running this race with a time goal in mind I want to just stick to heart rate training and continue to build my aerobic base.
Well that’s it! It also goes without mentioning that I want to have a killer time and enjoy myself. I get to run the freaking Golden Gate Bridge for heaven’s sake! Whee!!!
Do you ever set mini goals for yourself like these?
