This is long overdue so I will keep it brief…
Over Labor Day weekend the Mr. and I traveled to Salt Lake City. We went to spend time with his best friend and fraternity brother and meet his girlfriend. It was an incredible weekend out West with great company. I was overwhelmed by the open skies and mountain views.
Our flight was on time out of Atlanta but was delayed by three hours out of Denver. We arrived in Salt Lake City around 3am and headed straight to bed. The next morning we headed to a delicious breakfast in the mountains by Emigration Canyon. When we were driving to breakfast I noticed all these runners on Emigration Canyon and I told the Mr. I want to run that! They all thought I was nuts, but I talked the Mr. into hiking it with me on the last day of our trip.
After breakfast we drove around a bit then headed to Snowbird for Oktoberfest in the mountains. It was a beautiful day and I was in awe of how cold it was once we got in the mountains. It even sleeted when we were there. We had delicious food at Oktoberfest and then dinner and cupcakes later that night.
The next morning I got up early and hit the road. I got in an easy 5 miles while everyone was still asleep. I ran through the Murray City Park which was right across the street from where we were staying. We all headed to the farmer’s market downtown. I love a good farmer’s market. We enjoyed walking around and looking at everything. The Mr. and I split a huge cinnamon roll and breakfast pizza. I also had an iced coffee and carrot ginger juice. Yum!
We visited Park City during our trip and it was beautiful. I can only imagine what it would look like with snow. We had a couple delicious cocktails and enjoyed walking around all the shops and galleries.
We went to a natural history museum and saw all sorts of huge dinosaurs. It’s amazing that all those creatures came from Utah! After the museum we ate more delicious food.
On the last day of our trip the Mr. and I headed to Emigration Canyon for a morning hike. We hiked for an hour and we able to see the entire city and out lying areas. It was a gorgeous view. The pictures cannot possibly do the it justice.
After hike we all met up and headed to see the Great Salt Lake and Antelope Island. It was so interesting. We saw bison and antelope in addition to the Great Salt Lake. It was very strange because it felt like we were looking at the ocean, but it was a lake. Everything was so vast that it was difficult to comprehend.
This trip was all about the outdoors and enjoying the company of friends. I can’t wait to go back!
Have you ever been to SLC?
