Hey ya’ll! It’s time to talk goals for the Wine & Dine Half Marathon this Saturday night. Since this is the Mr.’s first half marathon and isn’t a big race for me my goals for this race are a bit race. This race is so close after the Chicago Marathon and I’m not trying to PR. Goals should always come in mulitples so here they are.
- Have fun! I want the Mr. to have an awesome first half marathon experience, so fun is the number one goal. I want us to take pictures at the mile markers and enjoy the run. Disney is a wonderful place to run and there is always so much to look at. I am excited to see the parks at night. I know everything will be lit up and beautiful.
- Pace the Mr. The Mr. hasn’t been running for long enough to pace himself too well and pacing in a race is always so challenging so I really want to help pace the Mr. for his first half. I want to make sure he paces right, drinks enough water and takes in enough calories. Basically, I will be incredibly annoying and a giant nag, but it will all be worth it.
- Eat all the things. One of the best parts of this race is that the after party rocks! We will have the opportunity to enjoy tapas style samples of cuisine from different countries and drink all sorts of fancy beverages. I’m excited to see what the options will be. Disney even sent us some vouchers to use for the after party kiosks.
- Enjoy the night race. People often complain about the wake up call associated with a runDisney race. The race has to be complete before the parks open for regular hours so that means we usually have to wake up around 3am to hit the shuttle bus to the start line. This race is a night race and starts at 10pm so there isn’t any crazy wake call. I don’t really know how to fuel for a night time race, but I think we will manage.
Disney events are full of fun and lack the pressure of the other races. The race atmosphere is incredible and Disney thinks of everything. I am really looking forward to a weekend getaway to the happiest place on earth. This race comes before all the holiday festivities so it will be a nice pause before everything gets busy.
