We are back in Atlanta after another amazing weekend at Walt Disney World and an incredible runDisney race. We started our trip on Friday afternoon and caught an afternoon flight. Since we stayed at Disney’s Pop Century Resort we were able to take Disney’s Magical Express from the airport directly to the resort.
Once we arrived at the hotel we began our usual shenanigans and headed to the race expo. The expo was awesome per usual, but we decided to not walk around and just pick up my packet.
After dropping off my gear at the room we waited for a bus to take us to Epcot for some dinner. Look how pretty the lights are! We ate at Mexico at the World Showcase and it was delicious. The Mr. and I also shared a frozen elephant (frozen coke with cream liquor) and some churros.
Since Saturday was the day before the marathon, I wanted to take it easy but still have fun and enjoy being at Disney. Animal Kingdom is one of our favorites so we headed there for the day. I started the day with a tall hazelnut soy latte in a Starbucks Mickey cup. I love that there are Starbucks locations at every park now. We rode Everest, Safari and Dinosaur and ate a tasty lunch. The Mediterranean pizza at Pizzafari was really yummy and fresh.
Around mid afternoon we headed to Magic Kingdom, but soon wore out. I had a little snack of a baked potato and the Mr. had a Dole whip, but we soon decided to head back to the hotel for some rest before dinner. My legs didn’t feel too tired, but we had walked over 6 miles already.
We got some rest and I took a short nap. I also took this time to lay out my kit and double check everything before we headed out to dinner. Anna was all ready to go!
I decided to wear my pro compression calf sleeves under my jeans to dinner and ended up sleeping in them. They really helped to remove any soreness from my calves.
Since the Disney wake up calls are so early I made dinner reservations for 5:30pm at Kona Café at Disney’s Polynesian Resort. The meal started with bread with honey macadamia nut butter and corn fritters. We both ordered the pan Asian noodles with chicken and veggies. Everything was absolutely incredible and tasted perfect. It was the perfect carbohydrate meal for a pre race dinner.
