Disney race weekends are some of the my favorite and this weekend was no exception! My mom, sister and I always look forward to spending the weekend together. The weekend was full of miles, smiles, giggles, early mornings and Disney treats.
Since our first race (5k) was on Friday morning, I headed to Disney on Wednesday night. I left work and drove about halfway and stayed in a hotel in South Georgia then met up with my mom and sister around 10:30am on Thursday morning.
We hit the expo to pick up our bibs, dropped our bags at the hotel then hit Epcot. We ended up riding Frozen Ever After and Soarin’ then fueled up for the race.
The 5k came bright and early at 6am. My mom, sister and I had a blast flying around Epcot. I love running through that park while it’s still dark.
We were a little disappointed with the character stops, but nonetheless we had the best time as Wendy Darling, Tinkerbell and Peter Pan. I was so hot in my nightgown that I kept tucking it into my waistband until I saw a photographer then I would pull it out. Haha!
After a couple more turns, we rounded the big signature Epcot ball and headed to the finish. This year’s race theme was Beauty and the Beast. This medal could not be any cuter with Mrs. Potts and Chip!
It was such a humid morning so we headed back to our resort for a quick shower then spent the rest of the day in Magic Kingdom.
Since I drove to Disney we were able to get dinner at Outback instead of having to eat on Disney property. I had my usual salad, baked potato, steamed veggies and grilled chicken.
We were in bed around 7:30pm to get rested for the 10k the following morning. Stay tuned for the 10k recap!
