My mom, sister and I had a blast at Walt Disney World running the Glass Slipper Challenge. If you aren’t familiar with runDisney events the Glass Slipper Challenge is a race challenge where you run the Enchanted 10k on Saturday then the Princess Half Marathon on Sunday totaling 19.3 miles. We all flew to Orlando on Friday morning then headed to the expo.
Disney expos are awesome! There are so many vendors with Disney merchandise and it’s a really fun environment. I went a little overboard at the expo, but I couldn’t help it. All of the runDisney expos are great, but the one for Princess Weekend is by far the best.
I also picked up a pair of the New Balance runDisney 2016 shoes. They are so comfortable and adorable. The entire shoe is Little Mermaid themed and all the details are Ariel related.
The shirts included in the swag bag were super cute too! I love pink, but I was really happy to see that they chose colors other than pink for the race shirts.
After the expo we headed to Disney Springs (formerly known as Downtown Disney) for some pre race pizza at Wolfgang Pucks. It was so delicious and exactly what we needed after a long day at the expo. Once dinner was over it was back to the hotel to get our kits ready.
Our costumes were Toy Story themed. I was Woody, Mom was Jessie and Blaine was Buzz.
That 3am wake up call came early and we decided to wait in line for a picture with Belle in the holding area. The race went by pretty quickly.
We stopped and took a picture with Pocahontas and Meeko around mile 2 before we entered Epcot. The course was beautiful and so much fun. We wound around Epcot’s world showcase then the Boardwalk resort hotels. Of all the Disney races I have done this course was by far my favorite because there were only a couple highway miles. We took our time running and made a couple bathroom stops.
Post race we celebrated with our new bling and Animal Kingdom. We did a lot of walking, had a lot of laughs and ate a lot of food.
Dinner came early because we had another 3am wake up call to get ready for the Princess Half Marathon. We all enjoyed pan Asian noodles with chicken from the Polynesian Resort’s Kona Café. The meal was perfect and then it was off to get our kits ready for the Princess Half Marathon.
We were the Winnie the Pooh characters for the half marathon. I am all about the pink anyways so I loved dressing up as Piglet.
Have you ever done back to back races as part of a challenge?
