Now that my Disney depression is in full swing I thought I would give ya’ll a little recap of our trip to Disneyworld for the Disney Princess Half Marathon. This was the perfect racecation! The Mr. and I had an absolute blast. Not only was it wonderful to get out of Atlanta for a couple days but by the end of our trip the weather in Florida was perfect. I could not have asked for a better trip.
WEDNESDAY: left Atlanta around 4pm and drove to Ocala, Florida for the evening, stayed at a Hampton Inn
THURSDAY: drove to Disneyworld, went to the race expo at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports, checked into our hotel (All Star Music Resort), walked around Hollywood Studios and then went to Downtown Disney for Dinner.
This is how I prefer to travel if possible! I always find that bringing your own food and snacks not only saves money but also allows you to eat like you would at home. To me this is idea for racecations, because I want to be sure I am fueling properly and getting nutrition even though most of our meals will be eaten out.
The expo was so much fun and needless to say I might have gone a little ham with the merch. Oh well! We had a lot of fun even if everything was crowded. We hit Hollywood Studios and rode Aerosmith’s Rockin Roller Coaster. I am always pretty chicken when it comes to this one, but it was way too fun. Something about their music blowing out your ear drums always makes it a little easier. Haha.
It had also warmed up enough for us to indulge in one of these cuties. There is no way anyone could visit Disneyworld without a Mickey Mouse ice cream bar. I mean, seriously no way. After a day at Animal Kingdom we headed over to Downtown Disney for pizza, sundaes and new kicks.
Because we stayed at Disney’s All Star Music Resort we were able to get into the Magic Kingdom an hour early. We got up early and were at the park by 7:30am. The Mr. thought I was crazy, but it makes all the difference because you don’t have to fight the crowds. Look at how close we are to Cinderella’s Castle! And even better…no crowds! We were able to ride Dumbo, Pooh, It’s A Small World, Tea Cups, Space Mountain (2x), Thunder Mountain Railroad (2x), Pirates of the Caribbean, and Dwarf’s Mine all before 1pm. We got a couple pineapple floats, walked around, had lunch, bought some coffee mugs then headed back to the room to get some rest before dinner.
We met some of my friends for dinner at Ohana at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, but I failed to take any pictures. I am sad too, ya’ll because this was hands down the best meal of the trip. I also got flat Alaina ready to go for the race.
