While podcasts aren’t new they are fairly new to me. Like most folks I started listening to podcasts thanks to Serial Season 1 and now I’m hooked. It seems that nowadays I am always listening to a podcast of some sort. Whether I am cooking, commuting, cleaning or running you will find me listening to a podcast.
I like audio books, but really enjoy the podcast format because you can just pick it up and put it down without having to remember loads of details from the last listening session. I also think they are a great way to learn about something. I use the Stitcher Radio app on my phone to access and organize my podcasts.
I’ve grouped my favorites into categories. Enjoy!
Do Inspiring Sh*t – This is the newest show I’ve added to my lineup and so far I really like it.
Jillian Michaels Show – I’ve loved her for ages and really enjoy her podcast. She talks about everything so I would categorize this as a lifestyle type show. She’s a modern woman and is so transparent.
This American Life – Some people can’t dig the random topics or random talent, but I love it! You never really know what you’re going to get or who will be delivering it, but that’s half the fun.
The Generation Why – I love the conversation style of this podcast. They cover a variety of topics within true crime and are always very practical with the way they report on cases.
Sword and Scale – The producer researches his material well and the cases are always incredibly fascinating.
Criminal – The topics are always unusual and the episodes are shorter than the other true crime podcasts I listen to making them perfect for a commute or dog walk.
Diz Runs With – Denny (aka Diz) interviews runners from all walks of life and puts out content about three times a week. The conversation style of this show makes it easy to listen to whenever you have some time.
Runners Connect – Run to the Top – Tina Muir hosts this show and covers all sorts of topics. Sometimes the show will interview a particular person from the running community, but other times the show will focus on one particular topic.
Trail Runner Nation – These two are some of my faves! While they focus heavily on ultra trail running, I love their show. They are very conversational and they keep my attention. Just two average guys talking with extraordinary people or talking about some random topic.
Primal Endurance – While I don’t follow a primal lifestyle, Brad Kearns help to breakdown everything into digestible nuggets of wisdom. He knows what he’s talking about and I always have some sort of take away from his show.
Ultra Runner Podcast – Eric is a great host and interviews everyone from the regular runner to the elite ultra runner. I really enjoy the variety of races, distances and folks he has on the show.
Today I am linking up with Amanda over at Running with Spoons for Thinking Out Loud.
