Let’s go adventuring! I mentioned a little while ago that the Mr. and I have some adventures on the horizon for this year. We traveled a lot in 2015 and at the end of the year decided that we were tired from being on the go so often. I’m excited that we are fortunate to be traveling more in 2016. There will also be a lot of destination races this year, but these trips don’t involve a race and that makes the Mr. a very happy man.
Everyday life can be tiring and boring. While the Mr. and I both enjoy living in Atlanta, the hectic lifestyle of our city can wear us down. It’s nice to get out and stretch our legs in new destinations and share experiences together. We decided a long time ago that instead of us spending a lot of money eating out multiple times a week or buying presents for each other we would put that money towards travel.
New Orleans. The Mr. and I decided to book a delayed Valentine’s Day trip to NOLA. Neither of us have been to New Orleans and I’m looking forward to seeing all the history. We will be going in March and are making a quick trip of it. I know that people either love this city or love to hate it, but we want to see for ourselves. Ya’ll also know that I’m obsessed with food so of course I want to visit anywhere where the food culture is on point. We are both looking forward to walking the streets, seeing the old cemeteries, eating the beignets and everything else. It will be a short weekend trip, but sometimes those are the best kind of getaways. We are staying in the French Quarter and have reservations at Commander’s Palace too. Commander’s Palace is a landmark and I’m excited to have that experience.
Colorado. Since the Colfax Marathon last May, my love affair with Colorado has been growing and I am thrilled that we will be going back. When we went for the marathon we weren’t able to spend a lot of time in the mountains and really explore because the marathon was the main focus. I didn’t want to be too tired, but this time we want to see so much more. This trip will be all about exploring nature and seeing the mountains. We want to explore the Flatirons in Boulder, Pike’s Peak and Garden of the Gods outside of Colorado Springs and the Mt. Evan’s scenic byway outside of Denver.
We will be staying in Denver and renting a car to drive to all these beautiful places. I want to do a little trail running, lots of filming and lots of hiking. There will also be alot of yummy eats involved in this trip per usual. After traveling to Colorado last year I felt such a connection to the mountains so I’m really excited to get back to Denver and do more exploring. This will be a longer trip so I hope we are able to fit everything in.
There are so many places we want to see and so many things we want to do, but we are really trying to focus on making some renovations to our house instead of doing so much travel. I definitely have a wanderlust spirit, but we both agree that we were gone too much last year. I can’t wait to see what else 2016 brings!
