Before we even moved in I knew the master bedroom needed a serious overhaul. The vaulted ceilings, interesting window placement and size of the room are lost in a sea of monotone beige.
Nothing about this room seems welcoming or cozy. In fact, we didn’t even want to move a bed in there upon moving in. It was too sad and stark.
It’s so much easier to tackle a room when there is nothing in it so I decided to start from scratch. Here’s what the room looked like when we moved in. Sad sea of beige.
The room has so much potential and is begging to be transformed into a stunning resting place.
Here’s the inspiration for our dream master bedroom. I want the space to be light, but cozy and rich with contrast and natural elements.
UPDATES FOR NOW
I plan to incorporate lots of neutrals and textures then add pops of color in items that I truly love. The room doesn’t get a lot of direct light, but I plan to utilize floor lamps and sconces for most of lighting in this room.
UPDATES FOR LATER
- New Carpet
- Planking the Ceiling
- Overhead Lighting
Eventually I hope to white wash shiplap or planks to cover the popcorn ceiling and add overhead lighting. The carpet will also be removed and replaced with something neutral, but that will be something that must wait for a while. The current carpet is old, but it’s not gross so that’s a huge plus.
Each house project seems slightly overwhelming, but also leaves me so inspired to create a space that I love. Our dream house has such personality and I can’t wait to add even more character to our beautiful home.
