A couple weeks ago I was invited to attend a blogger event for Life Time Fitness at their Alpharetta location. I have heard nothing but great things about Life Time Fitness since moving to Georgia years ago. I am not much of a gym girl because I usually work out at home in my home gym, but am always looking to see what’s new in the world of fitness.
I jumped at the chance to see everything they have to offer and had a really great time. We were invited to tour the facility, enjoy a healthy lunch, attend a group fitness class and choose from selected spa services.
Since I still have a regular 9-5 job, I decided to take the day off from work to attend the event. It was like a little vacation from everyday. Life Time Fitness really kicked off everything nicely. We met in the lobby and then were escorted to our lockers for the day. They didn’t hold back and gave us plenty of awesome swag.
After dropping off our purses we were headed up to lunch. The Alpharetta location offers a Café downstairs that made our lunch. I am not sure if every location has this feature, but it was really nice. The food was super healthy and nutritious. They also leave out a lot of popular additives and make everything fresh. You can read more about that here.
I enjoyed a tasty Greek style salad and fruit cup. It was pretty early in the morning so I wasn’t super hungry, but the wraps they prepared looks really tasty too.
We took a tour of the facility and I was really impressed with the way everything was laid out. Everything was very clean, inviting and everyone was incredibly warm and friendly. Each location is different, but the Alpharetta location has two indoor pools and one large outdoor pool in addition to a rock wall and other cool additions.
The yoga studio looked really cozy and was lit appropriately. All the equipment and weights were arranged according to body part and machine type and the fitness studio was really open and spacious.
We were invited to attend a 25 session of the lifebarre class that is offered regularly and it was a burner. I expected it to be a lot like the Barre3 DVD that I love so much, but this workout utilized more weights and less postured than what I have experienced with Barre3. It was a challenging workout, but our instructor was adorable. She was encouraging and kind and offered modifications for some of the more challenging elements.
After the lifebarre class we had a mini boot camp workout that was set up circuit style. I hated it but that’s because I much more enjoy barre/yoga and body weight style workouts. It was nice to mix it up a little bit though. The instructor was great and the exercises were challenging but not impossible. I think the killer was doing the sessions back to back. My body was so tired and I had already gone for a two mile run before attending the event.
We ended the day on a perfect note, with a massage. Each blogger was offered a variety of choices, but I chose the massage without any hesitation. I have never had a massage so I didn’t know what to expect, but German made me feel comfortable and walked me through everything. After an evaluation he decided to give me more of a sports massage and I was ever so thankful. I’ve been battling muscle tension and hip tightness on my right side so he focused on those areas and I left feeling so much better. I have been working with a chiropractor to address these issues, but German helped the tension dramatically. I will definitely be seeing him again, especially once fall marathon training is in full swing.
Once the massage was over I decided to grab a smoothie from the Café and head home. I ordered the Sunrise Smoothie and was on my way.
The whole day has a lot of fun and Life Time Fitness really does roll out the red carpet for all of their members. They work with each person individually to help them reach their goals which I think is an amazing feat nowadays. Life Time also offers something for everyone. There are lots of challenges and group classes offered at a variety of times too.
The thing I noticed most was their attention to detail. They really value their clients and that’s evident in everything. From the people who work there, to the advanced equipment, to the overall embrace of a healthy lifestyle and the eucalyptus scented towels Life Time Fitness is really the cream of the crop. I also think it’s important to note that Life Time is less of a gym and more of a community which is important no matter where you are in your fitness journey.
I wish there was a Life Time location closer to my house or my job. While I don’t think I would be able to attend daily I think it would be a lot of fun to have access to everything on my strength and cross training days. I also think I could benefit from some pool time.
I am interested to check out races organized and put on through Life Time Fitness as well. The Miami Marathon is one of their races and ya’ll know I loved that race. Their attention to detail was very apparent during that event and I would be interested to look into other races because I had a great experience at the Miami Half Marathon. I am just now learning that Life Time is a corporate sponsor for the Leadville 100 series. How cool is that?!
