We made it! After a short flight delay out of Atlanta we made it. It may be 110F in the shade, but I am officially on vacation for the next couple days. Before we left for Disney a couple weeks ago I nearly had a meltdown because all my clothes were horrible. They were either too big, too small or too conservative for me to want to leave the house. The struggle of every working woman is the balance of clothes you want to wear out on the weekends and the clothes you have to wear to your day job. I’m a paralegal at a large conservative firm, so needless to say I did a little online shopping before coming to Vegas for the fourth. I even bought a crop top!
My sister will be joining us in Las Vegas and I’m so excited to show her around. It’s Blaine’s first trip to Sin City and I know she will love it. The Mr. and I love that we can walk around, shop, see shows and eat delicious food in Vegas and have a big time without having to do much else. No adventure type vacation, no racecation and no long hours of sightseeing, just us and the Strip. We aren’t huge party animals or night lifers, but we love this city. When we spent Christmas in Vegas last year we found some gems that we will be visiting this trip and I’ve discovered new places to check out too.
I’m sure we could gamble and hit the clubs, but for us it’s all about the atmosphere and the eats. Blaine and I are seeing Kenny Chesney on Friday night at the Hard Rock Hotel and then we are all three seeing a Circe de Soliel show at the Mirage on the fourth.
If you follow me on instagram then you know I totally rocked my birkenstocks at my corporate job before boarding the plane later that afternoon. Oops. We were pretty spent upon arrival. I ran the morning that we left, worked a couple hours at the firm, headed home to meet the Mr. then hit the airport. Vegas is a 4 hour flight from ATL which isn’t horrible, but my legs were killing me. I had a hard 6 miler the day before we left and I think it was catching up with me. All we wanted to do was get to the hotel and get some dinner.
I knew I needed some time to adjust to the time change and get up early for a run. I hate running in the heat, but there is no way I want to play catch up from skipping a couple runs. Whoever said dry heat isn’t as bad as humidity and heat was insane. Hot is hot people. We headed out for an early dinner and drinks.
The Mr. and I decided to hit LINQ for dinner and check out Guy Fieri’s Vegas Kitchen. We ate here over Christmas but for brunch. I had the most delicious cocktail. It was a mixture of Jameson, ginger beer, fresh ginger and fresh muddled basil. Yum! I had a tasty turkey burger too.
We walked around and ended the evening with perfect Sprinkles cupcakes.
