Happy Friday everyone! This is the first of many Friday Five posts to come. Every Friday I will be sharing five of something. Some weeks it will be travel related, other weeks it will be fitness related or even recipe related. I have so much I want to share with you all!
Ya’ll know my love affair runs deep. Ever since I was a little girl I remember being captivated my the magic of Disney. The Mr. and I decided to become annual passholders after the Princess Half Marathon so we feel like we are professional Disney goers. I thought I would share a couple items that are must haves for our Disney trips. The Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon is right around the corner. I like to pack additional items for Disney race weekends, but for the regular trip these will help you enjoy your trip to the fullest.
STAY ON PROPERTY
If you can stay at a Disney resort, do it! Staying on property has so many benefits, but the biggest in my opinion is the extra magic hours and transportation. The extra magic hours allow you to arrive at a park early or stay late if you are staying at a Disney resort. The schedule for which park offers the hours varies, so check the hours on Disney’s website. Also, Disney transportation makes it easy to get to and from the parks without any additional stress.
TAKE YOUR OWN FOOD
I am rarely without a spare larabar or bag of nuts, but when you do Disney make sure you pack your own food. You can take food into the parks so pack a lunch to save a buck or do like us and eat breakfast in your hotel room. We like to pack fresh juice and fruit over ice in a cooler and then transfer it to the hotel refrigerator in the room once we arrive if we drive. If we are staying for more than a couple days I usually pack more substantial food. Small items like bars and nuts are easy to tote in a carry on bag too.
Many places, especially at Downtown Disney get really busy around the dinner hour or don’t take walk ins so make reservations. I also like having reservations for dinner because it gives us a bit of a schedule to work around. After a busy day of walking and waiting in lines it’s great to sit down to a nice dinner. Disney has stepped up their options when it comes to dining, so be sure to check out places that offer substitutions as well.
DISNEY’S EXPERIENCE APP
Download the Disney application to your cell phone. You can make dinner reservations, check wait times, locate an attraction and make your fast pass selections. This app makes everything so much easier and is so user friendly. This will help your plans stay on track so you aren’t wasting time walking around when you could be enjoying an attractions.
OPT TO HOP
Upgrading to the Disney hopper pass is well worth it. It might be tempting to save some cash and only do one Disney park a day, but pass on it. Having the ability to visit an unlimited number of parks in one day is wonderful! We love this option because we can plan our day around the attractions and the food and not feel confined to only one park. Some parks, like Hollywood Studios are awesome, but there may not be enough attractions to keep you engaged all day. We really enjoy being able to get up early to do Magic Kingdom before the crowds, hit Epcot and Soarin’ for lunch and the afternoon, then head to Hollywood Studios or Magic Kingdom for a night show.
