Hi ya’ll! Over the past weeks I will be sharing my training schedule and progress for the Edinburgh Marathon. I always enjoy reading about what others are doing to prepare for a goal race and I’ve found that by sharing my training plan it helps me stay accountable.
Be sure to read this post about reevaluating my goals and current running mojo!
It’s the final stretch. Only a couple more weeks then it’s race time. Whee!
Here’s what happened this week:
30 minutes of easy spinning + Yoga for Self Care – Yoga with Adriene
These paces felt effortless which was the best surprise!
3 miles (12:32, 11:48, 11:46)
AM: 4 miles (12:18, 12:25, 12:02, 11:53)
PM: 1 hour of easy spinning + quick arm complex w/ 3lbs weights
1 hour of easy spinning
This should have been an 18-20 mile run, but after a mentally draining morning with the basement contractor I just didn’t have it in me. I opted for lower miles then headed home for a lot of spinning at home while watching Divergent. The Mr. was out at a marital arts tournament, so I decided to just watch the movie and spin.
9 miles by the Chattahoochee River + 2.5 hours of easy spinning
6 minutes of hula hooping + light yoga to stretch
4 miles + 30 minutes of easy spinning + glute bridges and clamshells w/ heavy resistance band
Total Miles: 20 miles
This week was all about the spin bike. I’ve been so emotionally and mentally drained lately that running has felt like work, but the bike has felt easy. I’m still building endurance and since my heart rate stays so low on the bike I am able to add lots of volume and recover really quickly. It’s not ideal or a substitute for running, but right now it’s about all I can manage. It’s been so easy to just hop on the bike, flip on Netflix and put some time in.
This training cycle hasn’t been ideal, but at the end of the day I know I am physically capable of running a marathon. After all this will be marathon #7. Lucky #7?! The Edinburgh Marathon is about the experience for me so I’m just trying to enjoy the rest of the training and not put pressure on myself.
Are you currently training for anything?
Any Spring race plans?
