I first saw this idea over at Mile Posts and knew instantly I needed to start packing a bag. I am constantly on the go and now that the weather is warm would really love to be able to run anywhere that I happen to be.
ATL is a large city and there are so many places to explore. The traffic is also different every day. Most days it’s pretty rough which often means that by the time I get home I’m exhausted from my commute and don’t want to run around my neighborhood.
I decided to create a running locker for my car so on days where I leave at a weird time or the weather is really nice I can drive to a park within the city, hit the beltline/greenway or explore some trails outside the perimeter of the city.
I typically only run once a day, but since I’m marathon training that sometimes means it’s easier to run in the morning and then again at night when I can’t do all the mileage at once. I don’t like doing this often because running two 4 mile runs isn’t the same as one 8 miler, but I do love being able to vary the terrain, run on different hills or hit the trails.
Here are just some of the things in the running locker for my car.
I don’t keep my watch, headphones or armband in my car because I use them so often at home, but those items are so easy to toss in if I am planning on running and I can easily do without them too.
It’s been so convenient having everything I need for a run already in my car.
Do you have a running locker in your car?
What would you keep in your car so you can run anywhere?
