Day 3 of our trip started like the others. We woke up early with excitement, grabbed a quick breakfast and headed out to adventure. Today we drove part of the Mt. Evan’s scenic byway.
We did a lot of scenic drives on our trip, but this one was one of my favorites. The views were unbelievable for nearly the whole time. The road to the summit was closed due to a recent layer of snow, but we still managed to have the best time driving along.
Naturally we stopped to take a lot of pictures and enjoy every single view. Every turn just felt like the layers of mountains grew and the landscape was just mountains on mountains on mountains.
We passed the ski resort areas then stumbled upon two trail areas. Of course we stopped to hike for a bit in both places. We even saw this guy walking his llama. Yea, a llama.
Since this was really the only thing I had planned for the day we decided to drive to Breckenridge. Neither of us had been before and it was so much fun. We stopped at the rest stop at Silver Plume. All these little mountain towns have my heart. They were all so cute and each had a distinct personality.
We also couldn’t help but stop and admire Dillon Lake on our way towards Breck. It was indescribably beautiful.
Finally, we arrived at Breckenridge. We got out to stretch our legs and walked the downtown. I picked up a new hat and we enjoyed the sunshine. Breckenridge is truly a gem and we can’t wait to go back during the winter months.
The mountains were of course perfect and the day was perfect as well. We made the drive back to the hotel and then got to bed early. All the driving and hiking really wore us out.
The last day of our trip was all about the Bolder Boulder 10k. Read the recap here!
