Welcome! Every week I recap my training from the week before mainly to help keep me accountable, but also because I like to share. I love to see how others are training, so my hope is that someone might like seeing this as well.
While I am running the Chicago Marathon and the NYC Marathon my training is specifically focused on Chicago because it is my goal race. I am also running other races in other places leading up to the marathon too. Read about my full race calendar here.
Here’s my training plan, but the process is constantly evolving.
This was a pretty solid week for me. I wish I would have worked some more strength training in, but I’m pleased with the total mileage. The quality of each run was great and that’s the main focus.
This week will look a little different since we are traveling to San Fran on Friday. I will be sharing my goals for the San Francisco half marathon tomorrow.
PM – 8 treadmill miles (14:30, 13:44, 13:58, 13:05, 11:54, 11:37, 11:20, 11:32) <- these started really easy but worked up to a challenging effort
PM – 20 minute light spinning + hand weight workout
PM – 50 Glute Bridges and Clamshells, 15 Supermans with Hamstring Curls, 15 Russian Twists, 30 Standing Kickbacks with Mini Band, 2 minute wall sit
3 speed work treadmill miles (14:56, 11:26, 11:08, 10:51, 10:53, 11:40) <- I had a .5 mile warm up then changed the speed every .5 mile then cooled down a bit
AM – 3.17 miles: 3 easy miles + strides (30 sec x 2 with a minute rest between – 9:26, 8:34) I channeled my inner Anna from Frozen on this run, but it was still super hot and steamy.
16 long, slow and super hot (“feels like” 98F) miles on the Silver Comet Trail <- This felt like the longest long run of my life, but I still managed to throw in some pace pick ups. I joined the #SportsBraSquad today! Check out my full Instagram post!
4 recovery miles on the treadmill + backyard pool time with Bernard + homemade cinnamon rolls
Total Miles This Week: 34.17
Total Miles This Cycle: 164.62
I am running for Ronald McDonald House Charities. If you feel so inclined, you can donate here. Every little bit counts and will make a difference to the families served by RMHC 🙂
I am also selling these adorable shirts through TeeSpring. All proceeds benefit RMHC as well. There are several style and color options available. I own the shirt shown above and the bella tank and love them.
How is your training coming along?
