Welcome! Every week I recap my training from the week before mainly to help keep me accountable, but also because I like to share. I love to see how others are training, so my hope is that someone might like seeing this as well.
While I am running the Chicago Marathon and the NYC Marathon my training is specifically focused on Chicago because it is my goal race. I am also running other races in other places leading up to the marathon too. Read about my full race calendar here.
Here’s my training plan, but the process is constantly evolving.
I did barre and was humbled at how hard it truly is. I was a little tired and sore by Friday, but pushed through for a strong week. I battled some stomach issues and was fighting sickness from Friday on so I took Sunday off completely.
I have been sticking to heart rate training and it is paying off. I am running stronger, faster and recovering quicker than I have in previous cycles. It’s been really valuable for me to have better information on how hard my body is working to maintain a certain level of effort. I’m also learning what factors strain my performance like heat, lack of sleep, poor nutrition, etc. It seems like all of this becomes clearer when I review my heart rate data and I can make the correlation.
REST – travelled back from Tennessee
AM- 50 Glute Bridges & Clamshells
PM- 7 easy effort miles on the treadmill (12:23, 11:30, 11:05, 10:56, 10:35, 10:22, 11:08) – This run felt great even though my paces were well under my target marathon pace.
AM- 3.46 miles of hill repeats (13:20, 12:54, 13:36, 13:25) – I was pleased with these splits because my legs were tired from Tuesday night’s run.
AM- Barre3 DVD workout
PM- 7 moderate effort miles on the treadmill – My watch went crazy so I have no idea what my splits were and I don’t think the treadmill readings are super accurate.
AM – 9 slow treadmill miles + standard and reverse planks – My stomach gave my problems so I played it safe and ran at home.
Total Miles This Week: 26.46
Total Miles This Cycle: 116.16
I am running for Ronald McDonald House Charities. If you feel so inclined, you can donate here. Every little bit counts and will make a difference to the families served by RMHC 🙂
I am also selling these adorable shirts through TeeSpring. All proceeds benefit RMHC as well. There are several style and color options available. I own the shirt shown above and the bella tank and love them.
How is your training coming along?
