Welcome! Every week I recap my training from the week before mainly to help keep me accountable, but also because I like to share. I love to see how others are training, so my hope is that someone might like seeing this as well.
While I am running the Chicago Marathon and the NYC Marathon my training is specifically focused on Chicago because it is my goal race. I am also running other races in other places leading up to the marathon too. Read about my full race calendar here.
Here’s my training plan, but the process is constantly evolving.
This week was an improvement from last week. I got in some solid runs even if the mileage wasn’t quite as high as I would have liked.
I had a blast running the trails twice and will be making more of an effort to run them after work in the coming weeks. The change of terrain is great on my joints, but because most trails here are peppered with roots and rocks the trails also feel like fartlek runs. There are a lot of sections where I can work on turnover and being fast on my feet to keep from tripping or face planting. I’m interested to see how this helps me on the road, but also how it affects my ability to run fast on the downhill since I’ve been doing a lot of that too.
