Welcome! Every week I recap my training from the week before mainly to help keep me accountable, but also because I like to share. I love to see how others are training, so my hope is that someone might like seeing this as well.
While I am running the Chicago Marathon and the NYC Marathon my training is specifically focused on Chicago because it is my goal race. I am also running other races in other places leading up to the marathon too. Read about my full race calendar here.
Here’s my training plan, but the process is constantly evolving.
The week before last I took as a rest week. I was still exhausted from the Revel Big Cottonwood Half Marathon and needed a break. Full race recap coming tomorrow 🙂
Last week was my last full week of training. I wish I would have been able to have a higher mileage week, but life got in the way. I’m not going to beat myself up about it though. I feel prepared for the marathon.
I’m in full taper mode this week and loving it already. My goal for the next two weeks is to do a lot of easy running and spend some time on the bike to give my body a break.
PM: 5 easy paced miles on the treadmill
AM: 3 easy paced miles and Tone It Up Beach Yoga with Karena. I enjoyed a delicious doughnut post run.
AM: 7.27 super hilly miles. I started in the dark and finished after the sun was up. These felt pretty good.
REST – I wasn’t going to take this as a rest day, but ended up having to because I had so much going on.
REST. I did get my new pair of Hoka Clifton 3s in the mail though. I decided to break them in with 21 miles on Saturday.
AM: 21 miles on the Silver Comet Trail followed by a glorious ice bath 🙂 I ran my usual out and back route on the asphalt path, but took a couple detours and found this little trail. I ran it out and on the way back too. It added about 2 miles to my route and I loved it.
REST – I wanted to get some recovery miles in, but overslept. The Mr. and I had a packed day!
Total Miles This Week: 36.27
Total Miles This Cycle: 350.3
How is your training coming along?
