Welcome! Every week I recap my training from the week before mainly to help keep me accountable, but also because I like to share. I love to see how others are training, so my hope is that someone might like seeing this as well.
While I am running the Chicago Marathon and the NYC Marathon my training is specifically focused on Chicago because it is my goal race. I am also running other races in other places leading up to the marathon too. Read about my full race calendar here.
Here’s my training plan, but the process is constantly evolving.
This week was all about balancing the need/want to train for the marathon(s) with higher mileage while still resting for the Big Cottonwood Half Marathon on Saturday.
I focused on getting in as much easy running as I could without wearing myself out. Friday was a long travel day and I wanted to be ready for the race especially since this was my goal half marathon of the summer. I am also using the BC Half as a way for me to gauge my preparedness for the Chicago Marathon. I’m hoping to have a better idea about GMP too after this race.
REST – I was tired from a weekend with my sister in town so I opted to get some rest.
PM: 6 easy miles on the treadmill
AM: 5.16 easy miles around the neighborhood. I am loving this new route because I get to climb some serious rolling hills then run super fast on the downhills. The streets are always so peaceful before morning traffic starts.
PM: 2.30 miles on the treadmill
AM: 6 easy effort miles
REST – We travelled to Salt Lake City this day 🙂
Revel Big Cottonwood Half Marathon – Recap coming soon!
Spent the whole day hiking with the Mr. in Utah
Total Miles This Week: 32.7
Total Miles This Cycle: 314.03
I am running for Ronald McDonald House Charities. If you feel so inclined, you can donate here. Every little bit counts and will make a difference to the families served by RMHC 🙂
I am also selling these adorable shirts through TeeSpring. All proceeds benefit RMHC as well. There are several style and color options available. I own the shirt shown above and the bella tank and love them.
How is your training coming along?
