Welcome! Every week I recap my training from the week before mainly to help keep me accountable, but also because I like to share. I love to see how others are training, so my hope is that someone might like seeing this as well.
While I am running the Chicago Marathon and the NYC Marathon my training is specifically focused on Chicago because it is my goal race. I am also running other races in other places leading up to the marathon too. Read about my full race calendar here.
Here’s my training plan, but the process is constantly evolving.
Since the last two weeks were higher mileage for me I used this week as a cutback/rest week. I really needed this break especially because I am racing a half marathon this Saturday. It was hard for me to take time off from running, but I’m so glad I did. I want a couple high mileage weeks before taper begins.
Tuesday was also my birthday so even more reason to enjoy a little break! As a bonus my sister, Blaine came to visit over Labor Day weekend so my routine got thrown off and I wanted to spend as much
REST – I enjoyed a salt bath and Jasyoga Deep Relaxation for Athletic Recovery before bed. It basically changed my life! I felt so relaxed during and after. I just wanted to nap the entire time and I’m pretty sure that’s the point 😉
TUESDAY *MY BIRTHDAY*
AM: 4.12 super slow and hilly miles
PM: Margarita and Mini Cupcakes
PM: 5.5 miles on the treadmill – This run was so weird! I had intended it to be a speed session, but literally could not run fast at all. My watch kept acting up and my legs were really feeling the accumulation of fatigue. It was pretty rough. I did another salt bath too.
Every time I sleep in before work and then have to run at night I regret it. I hate running later in the evening! Ugh!
AM: 4.30 hilly miles – These felt incredibly hard at first, but I did start to feel warmed up right before I was done. I wanted to run longer, but had to head to work.
PM: 1 hour 2o mins easy spinning + core work
3.64 miles with lots of stairs, hill repeats and strides at the end
Hiked around Kennesaw Mountain with my sister and the Mr. for about 6 miles
Shopping with Blaine (12,525 steps)
Total Miles This Week: 17.56
Total Miles This Cycle: 281.57
I am running for Ronald McDonald House Charities. If you feel so inclined, you can donate here. Every little bit counts and will make a difference to the families served by RMHC 🙂
I am also selling these adorable shirts through TeeSpring. All proceeds benefit RMHC as well. There are several style and color options available. I own the shirt shown above and the bella tank and love them.
How is your training coming along?
