Welcome! Every week I recap my training from the week before mainly to help keep me accountable, but also because I like to share. I love to see how others are training, so my hope is that someone might like seeing this as well.
While I am running the Chicago Marathon and the NYC Marathon my training is specifically focused on Chicago because it is my goal race. I am also running other races in other places leading up to the marathon too. Read about my full race calendar here.
Here’s my training plan, but the process is constantly evolving.
I am so pleased with the speedwork I was about to crank out this week. I am still trying to reign in my GMP (goal marathon pace), but am just trying to not worry about it until after the Revel Big Cottonwood Half Marathon in a few weeks.
I know after that race I will have a better gauge of what’s realistic during the marathon and since that’s my goal half marathon for the year, I will be racing it.
This was such a strong week for me! I ran hard and my body responded well. This is the most miles I have ever run in one week and I’ve ran three marathons. I’m feeling great 🙂
AM: 5 miles with 4 under GMP (13:10, 11:36, 11:13, 10:56, 11:56) – This run hurt so good. I surprised myself 🙂
AM: 7.55 easy paced miles – The humidity was so bad!
AM: 5 miles with 3 under GMP (15:48, 12:11, 11:06, 10:36, 14:04) – My warm up and cool down miles were so slow. I kept having to stop and catch my breath from the humidity or stretch my tight calves.
PM: 4 easy paced treadmill miles – My legs were tired from the a.m. run, but these miles felt great. They were slow and relaxed.
AM: 2 easy miles with the Mr. and Chloe Mae – We caught the sunrise and it was a fun way to start the day!
17 miles! – It got hot so I did 11 on the road, then ran home and finished the last 6 on the treadmill.
40 minute dog walk + REST
Total Miles This Week: 40.55
Total Miles This Cycle: 231.27
I am running for Ronald McDonald House Charities. If you feel so inclined, you can donate here. Every little bit counts and will make a difference to the families served by RMHC 🙂
I am also selling these adorable shirts through TeeSpring. All proceeds benefit RMHC as well. There are several style and color options available. I own the shirt shown above and the bella tank and love them.
How is your training coming along?
