After the incredible experience that is the Chicago Marathon, we slept in the morning after the race. I stretched and did some legs up on the wall to help the recovery process along. I felt pretty sore after the race, but still felt well enough to do something fun.
We opted for a quick breakfast at the hotel then headed to the Nike store to get my medal engraved. The line was long and it took us about an hour and a half to get through, but it was worth it.
We hadn’t had any Chicago style pizza the entire trip, so we enjoyed some Lu Malnati’s pizza and salad. This stuff is what dreams are made of. Everything was so delicious and I’m so glad we went here instead of Giordano’s.
Before we fell into a carb coma we visited the Lincoln Park Zoo. The weather was incredible and so was the park. All the animals were out and it was the perfect ending to our last day in Chicago.
The walking was just right. I was able to get my legs moving, but it wasn’t so much that I was overly exhausted. If you have some extra time in Chicago you should definitely check out the zoo. Lincoln Park is beautiful and the zoo is free.
We headed back to our hotel to pick up our bags then it was back to ATL.
