It’s official! I’m running another marathon in 2018 and I’m so excited about it. I can’t wait to see what the next training cycle has in store. This year has been weird. I couldn’t hold a regular running routine, had tons of life things pop up and finally feel like I’m in a place to start something new.
About the Race
Back in May the Mr. and I traveled to Scotland so I could run the Edinburgh Marathon and see the country. If you’ve been following along then you know that never happened. I never ran that race. Read all about the whole experience here.
From the very next morning and every morning since, I’ve felt this sense of unfinished business with this race. I love Scotland so very much and it’s painful to think I missed out on this race experience.
I’m going back to Edinburgh to run the marathon in May!!!!! (Squeals) I’ve already registered and I’m unbelievably happy to share it with y’all. It might also be more of a coincidence that they have changed the race course to include more of Edinburgh’s famous places. Whee!
In true Alaina fashion, I’ve already mapped out my training blocks, have milestone goals and have scoped out races to use as training runs. I will be sharing more of that in the coming weeks. I’m excited to experience the marathon in Scotland, run my first international race and check off marathon #7.
I don’t know if I will run another marathon in 2018. I might be considering a fall race, but I don’t have to figure that out just yet. I’m sure I’ll enter the NYC marathon lottery though to take my chances. That race is everything!
Between Now and Then
I’m granting myself some grace right now and soaking in the holiday season. I have no intention of starting any sort of formal fitness routine until the new year. I might run when I feel like it, lift if I want to and do some yoga but other than that I’m taking it easy.
Thank you all for following along, offering your support and kind words this year! You will truly never know what it means to me. I can’t wait to see what the new year holds.
Happy holidays everyone!
