Happy Friday ya’ll! For most of us running during the summer can be brutal. The temperatures are hot all the time, the humidity is higher and for a lot of us it’s fall race training season. This means that peak mileage occurs in the heat of the summer when the average temps are the hottest. It can get so hot here in Atlanta, I mean folks don’t call it Hotlanta for nothing. Don’t let the weather get you down!
Today I’m sharing my latest summer running must haves. These are my go to summer running essentials.
Hydration Packs + Nutrition.
Right now I love this Nathan Sports bottle. The pouch is perfect for my car key, headphones and nutrition. I love Nuun and Tailwind Nutrition. I tend to carry Nuun on lighter days and Tailwind on longer runs. I’m a Nuun ambassador and have loved their products for what feels like forever. I have recently been loving Tailwind because it is in all in one. It has enough calories to get me through a long workout without having to rely on gels or blocks.
I think it goes without saying that sleeves are a thing for fall and early spring running only. As soon as it warms up I ditch the sleeves. I love all types of tanks. Oiselle and Old Navy are two of my favorite brands though. They are breathable and have a nice fit.
Sunscreen is a must for all seasons but especially during the summer months. I really love these kinds of Aveeno sunscreen. It’s gentler on my skin than traditional brands and doesn’t burn the sweat runs into my eyes. I tend to use the baby variety on my face.
If you follow me on instagram or visit this blog often then you know I am all about a good hat. I love hats of all kinds. Trucker hats are great because they are vented, but I love the wide billed style of my Nike hats too. Visors are great, but I want to protect the part of my hair a bit better.
If you aren’t running in Oiselle’s Roga shorts you need to be. They are the perfect fit, don’t poof out and don’t ride up. I have wonder thighs ya’ll so trust me when I say you need them. Oiselle offers them in a variety of lengths and have different varieties with different style pockets. I own a couple pairs of mid length compression shorts and they are great too. I like wearing them with longer tanks or under Sparkle Skirts, but the Rogas are the best.
