It’s hard to believe we are well into the new year already! I always find it so fascinating to see where others are racing and running so I thought I’d share my race calendar with you all.
Since the Edinburgh Marathon is my big goal race for the year and the trip will be fairly expensive, I’m trying to do a lot more local races. We also barely missed qualifying for our airline companion pass so that changes the amount of trips we will be able to take compared to last year. I may or may not have cried when I learned this.
Everything could change a little and I hope to fill in some other races, but so far here it is.
Disney Princess Marathon Weekend: 5k, 10k and Half Marathon – Walt Disney World, FL. February 23rd – 26th
I love running Disney and this weekend never disappoints. My mom, sister and I are looking forward to an awesome girls trip! Even though I won’t be racing any of these distances the cumulative fatigue plus all the park walking will be great training.
Berry Half Marathon – Berry College, Rome, GA. March 11th
I’m excited to see what this race and place have to offer especially because it’s still somewhat local. The course should be very scenic and pretty flat. This should be the perfect way to kick off my marathon training cycle.
Tear Drop Half Marathon – Chatsworth, GA. April 30th
This is a downhill race north of Atlanta with a drop of over 2,000 feet. I love downhill running and this will be the perfect way to gauge where I am before Edinburgh. This race will also more than likely be my goal half marathon for the year.
Edinburgh Marathon – Edinburgh, U.K. May 28th
I can’t wait to see all the things and run all the miles all over Scotland. The course should be scenic, fast and flat. This will be my goal race for the year.
Oregon Wine Country Half Marathon – Carlton, OR. September 3rd
Oregon is one of the Mr. and I’s favorite places so when I saw that this race fell over Labor Day weekend I was on it. There is no way I would miss an opportunity to visit Oregon again let alone run through the Willamette valley. So excited!
runDisney Wine & Dine 10k & Half Marathon – Walt Disney World, FL. November 4th-5th
Even though this race weekend was a disaster for us back in 2015, I’m ready to give it another try. We also love the Epcot Food and Wine Festival so much! Since we can easily drive to Disney for a weekend this makes a nice addition to our travel schedule. My mom, sister and dad may be coming as well. Great fun!
2017 is going to be so rad! I just know it!
Any big races on your calendar yet?
What are you most looking forward to this year?
